It is with deep regret I announce that our Mother Shelagh Coughlan passed away on Sunday 12th September 2021. Mum had fought bravely against Dementia for more than a decade finally succumbing to the frailty of old age and the rigors of Dementia.
Mum had a very gentle nature, always polite, kind and incredibly well mannered, such traits endeared her greatly to all those who knew her, which goes well beyond family.
Little Mum loved her 5 children unreservedly, she was always there for them and provided help and support long into our own adult years. However, she never asked for anything in return, a simple phone call or visit made her happy. Equally, she never asked much from life being both prudent and thrifty knowing both the cost and value of everything. She enjoyed nice things, recognized quality and knew the pitfalls of going cheap. It brings a smile to my face thinking of how much she enjoyed a slice of cake and a nice "cuppa", in her eyes a big day out. If she had a weakness, it was for chocolate. But anything that was not good for you from cake to chips featured highly on her guilty pleasure list. Truly loved and sorely missed by her whole family.
I just can't believe it has been 3 years since you left us. What I wouldn't give to sit at the kitchen table with you and laugh our heads off over a nice cuppa and a timeout 😔💔 Love always, your loving daughter - in - law, Louise
Cash donations from St Mary’s yesterday. A big thank you to all those who contributed.
Little Mum, so glad you were my Mother and so happy we have managed to spend so much quality time together particularly in recent years. However this also means you are so sorely missed, but will remain truly loved eternally, Little James & Jane xx
